Popis - FEAR OF THE SEA:
since forming in 2003, The Gin Club have quickly earned themselves a reputation as one of Brisbane's best live acts, presenting a unique blend of alt-country folk-rock. 'Fear Of The Sea' was rcorded over a few weeks during the relatively mild winter of 2005 and is the follow up to last year eponymous self titles debut album. The new album see the band expanding their line up, their sound and their girths. All individual compositions, the 13 new songs on the album vary somewhat in tone and production, but are never less satisfactory than a stiff Gin and Tonic on a still day on the open sea. The salty tang of 'Pirate Song' sits easily beside the plaintive cry of 'Campus Blues';the post-modern psychedelic pop of 'Drug Flowers' nestles up to the epic, stirring'i was a young boy';whilst new recruirs Jacob Harris and Dale Peachey, who've joined our perilous endeavour, book-end the album. perhaps the most beautiful song is the title track, by Conor MacDonald, a haunting and moving ode to innocence lost that sees The Gin Club wielding their ten-strong musical prowess to truly devastating effect.
